The Venus de Milo is affixed with a pipe and knitting needles in her hair. This is undoubtedly the work of Bazille's studio mates, who wrote to his parents in February 1863: "It is very difficult to send rolls of paper, my studies are usually not very presentable at the end of the week, all dirty as they are and covered with the caricatures my neighbors make on them".
The crooked man on the lower left is the same as the one on the left of folio 6 recto, Caricatures and a Seated Monk.
