There is little difference between this preparatory drawing and the final painting. However, two objects have disappeared from the painting: the tripod on the right and the sickle on the lower left.
On April 7-8, 1870, Bazille alluded for the first time, albeit indirectly, to his painting Ruth and Booz: "It will take me a good month to finish the flowers I have begun and to make the drawings for a painting I propose to do at Méric". We know that there are height drawings for Ruth and Booz.
Finally, we note here the pencil frame, which confirms Bazille's intention to make a painting of it.
